Phil Mitchell Celebrates Pearl and Earl Style
Well as Pearl and Earl we have supplied our style of nostalgic paper decorations to Oscar Winning Movies like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy… as well as a wealth of personal celebrations … but our debut on the BBC in Fridays episode of Eastenders in the Queen Vic with Phil Mitchell was the one that has caused the most stir in our house…
Mind you Mr Mitchell does not look too impressed with our popcorn boxes… bit worried he may send the boys round!
Kid-Eco DIY Olympic Torch
I have really enjoyed watching the torch fly through local towns and cities this weekend .. and on the 16th July the torch is due to go right past our front door in Arundel…
The kids are VERY excited and the theme for the procession is GOLD, and a little stuck for something to make – and I found these Kid-Eco Olympic Torches to decorate.. It comes in white, for self decoration and the kids are already planning their design.
The company are also holding a competition for both individuals and schools for the best decoration…

Hollywood Stars Hit Arundel
Regular readers will know how much we love our home town of Arundel in the midst of the Sussex Downs … being a tiny town of 1000 with such a beautiful Castle, Estate, Cathedral and National Park on our doorstep is a bit of a blessing. So on Fridays school run when we saw a big hullabaloo going on by the top Castle gate we had to have a nose!.. only to discover it was the ‘Press Junket’ over the weekend before the world premier tonight of Snow White and The Huntsman
So in situ was Kirsten Stewart (cue teenage screaming girls), Charlize Theron, the dashing Chris Hemsworth (Thor – so my son was VERY impressed), and Sam Claflin…
Kirstens beau Robert Pattison was celebrating his birthday this weekend so was also in town (cue even more screaming girls) and was staying in our local posh hotel Baliffscourt by the sea..
Hoping a little bit of the glamour will rub off on us all … but as of today normal service is resumed in our sleepy town, as the Hollywood Universal Studio machine has headed back up the A23 to the big smoke for the world premier tonight…

Supersize Paper Flower Couture
I was running through my ‘must blog about’ file tonight – and found this little gem I thought I would share. The couture collection from Alexis Mabille this Spring featured these supersized paper flowers on the models heads.
My latest obsession is oversized paper flowers and I am experimenting a lot (see recent blog) .. and it is great to see these big bad boys in action..

So in our annual ‘random event’ calendar… I am a geek and a Star Wars fan – so this is definately one for us to celebrate .. Empire Strikes back, Star Wars lego and some Black and White Empire Straws & Mr Finlay is in his Darth Vadar costume trying to turn on the cooker with “the force”.
The force is strong in this one…. love it!
Supersize Stitches latest book news
Well lordy me… SUPERSIZE STITCHES is out in the UK and US on 10th October this year and whilst promoting at the London Book Fair last month, my publishers have also secured translations into 4 other languages – Finnish, French, German and Swedish (plus a couple as yet unconfirmed)… so Bienvenue, Willkommen … and ..? Sorry my school girl linguistic skills end there. Best leave it to the experts!
.. and I have had permission to release a couple more shots of the projects from the back cover, which features 3 projects … First up… this Giant Shaped Russian Doll…
She is a supersize 50cm tall.. and there are variations in the book enabling you to stitch her in different sizes. She is one of my very favourite projects… and I hope you like it too
